Job summary

Baylor College of Medicine invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in Cancer Epidemiology within the Section of Epidemiology and Population Sciences. The program trains fellows to combine traditional epidemiologic methods with real-world data, AI, and NLP to advance cancer research.

Work with collaborators from MD Anderson, Rice University and UTHealth in a collaborative, mentorship-rich environment. The position is onsite in Houston, TX, with a 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Qualifications

• MD or PhD in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
• No experience required.
• Experience with next generation sequencing data analysis is a plus.
• Knowledge in cancer biology or genetics is preferable.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes large data sets.
• Analyzes next generation sequencing data (e.g., RNA-seq, whole genome/exome) to address research questions.
• Uses state-of-the-art bioinformatical and statistical tools.
• Develops new statistical methods to answer biological questions.
• Prepares manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations for journals and conferences.
• Ensures compliance with data security guidelines for handling sensitive data.
• Conducts advanced analysis of large-scale biomedical datasets to support research.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams in a team-oriented environment.
• Participates in the training program and mentors trainees.
• Develops methodologies for use in electronic medical records to improve patient outcomes.
