Job summary

Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant field is required or expected within last three years.
  • Hands-on Python programming for scientific software is required.
  • Experience developing software for scientific instrumentation & automation is required.
  • Experience with machine learning or data-driven methods is preferred.
  • Knowledge of materials science, vacuum-based processing, and semiconductor characterization is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy autonomous experimentation workflows for synthesis and characterization instruments.
  • Integrate laboratory instrumentation, data infrastructure, and workflow orchestration into scalable platforms.
  • Apply AI, robotics, and computer vision methods to materials science problems.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers on autonomous experimentation projects.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot instrumentation, automation hardware, and software interfaces.
