NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena seeks a PhD-level radar systems scientist to lead AIRSAR-NG end-to-end calibration, including hardware refurbishments and software-defined radar analysis. You will interface with hardware and flight-test teams to validate polarimetric antenna patterns and beam-forming performance.

The role requires hands-on radar development experience, proficiency in Python, C and Julia, and a track record of research publication.

Qualifications

• Hands-on radar system development experience with instrument design and testing.
• PhD required; strong background in microwave remote sensing and SAR calibration.
• Proficiency programming SBC interfaces and software tools (Python, C, Julia).

Responsibilities

• Conduct AIRSAR-NG end-to-end calibration using internal signals and external targets.
• Refurbish radar transponder hardware and program SBCs to autonomously receive and transmit AIRSAR-NG signals.
• Develop calibration techniques to account for NTIA restrictions and verify beam-forming performance.
• Collaborate with JPL advisor; publish research in open literature.
