Job summary

Afrooz Rashnonejad's Lab in North Carolina is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to develop AAV gene therapies for neuromuscular and neurological disorders. You will design experiments, conduct both in vivo and in vitro studies, and collaborate with team members.

Applicants should hold a PhD and have experience in AAV, gene therapy, neuromuscular science, and iPSC-derived 3D organoid models. The position is funded for up to 5 years under an NIH R01 grant.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field is required.
• Experience with AAV and gene therapy is highly preferred.
• Experience with iPSC-derived 3D organoid models is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Designs experiments, develops protocols, and conducts research under a faculty mentor.
• Assists in the training and supervision of technical staff in performing techniques essential to the research program.
• Records and analyzes data; assists in developing hypotheses for further investigation from results.
• Assists with preparation of scientific papers for publication and presents findings at local and national research forums.
• Collaborates with other ongoing research efforts at NCH or The Ohio State University.
• Works toward research independence, preparing to submit proposals to obtain external funding.
