Postcard is a new café and listening lounge from Monos, a Canadian travel and lifestyle brand known for its premium luggage and travel essentials. Opening August 2025 in Chicago’s West Loop, Postcard is imagined as a modern third place—a cultural hub where hospitality, music, and design come together.Rooted in Monos’ philosophy of presence, beauty, and intentional living, Postcard is more than a café—it’s a space for those who value connection, creativity, and the art of living well.

Position Overview

As General Manager at Postcard, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional guest service, and maintaining high standards of operational efficiency.

This role goes beyond managing logistics; it’s about creating an experience where music, hospitality, and design come together. Your leadership will be key in curating an atmosphere that encourages collaboration and creativity, both within the team and for the guests.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth service, compliance with company policies, and adherence to labour, health, and safety regulations.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage hourly team members; ensure all staff are trained according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), food safety standards, and workplace policies.
  • Support the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding process for hourly team members in compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) guidelines and required employment documentation.
  • Manage inventory levels, place orders, and maintain supplier/vendor relationships; ensure accurate receiving and storage practices aligned with food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Maintain financial oversight by tracking labour costs, monitoring daily sales, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control initiatives.
  • Partner with the team to deliver consistent, high-quality guest experiences while identifying ways to improve efficiency, service flow, and team performance.
  • Coordinate in-store events, brand activations, and special promotions following company guidelines and any applicable legal or regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor guest feedback from all channels and implement operational improvements to continually enhance the overall guest experience.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture that complies with anti-harassment, anti-discrimination, and safety policies, while promoting employee engagement and collaboration.
  • Fulfil physical requirements of the role, including standing for extended periods, and participating in opening/closing procedures and light janitorial tasks as needed.

  • 5+ years of experience in hospitality management, preferably in a cafe, restaurant or music-driven environment
  • Strong leadership skills with a passion for mentoring, inspiring, and developing a team
  • A dedication to creating memorable experiences for guests and a love for music, design, and creative expression
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Experience in financial oversight/planning, inventory management, and maintaining strong supplier relationships
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining organization and focus
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
