Job summary

St. Charles Health System in Bend, OR seeks a Post-Licensure Specialist to manage Allied Health programs, preceptor development, and medical continuing education (UME, GME, CME), coordinating unit-specific classes and multi-disciplinary grand rounds to support Clinical Excellence.

This role provides administrative support for nursing education and collaborates with Clinical Education staff, advisory boards and health-system leadership to ensure effective program development, accreditation

Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in clinical setting.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a clinical educator, trainer, or equivalent role.
  • Experience applying teaching methodologies, working with accrediting bodies, and supporting governance and professional advancement systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supports assigned Transition to Practice programs to meet clinical education needs.
  • Collaborates with Clinical Education staff, advisory boards and Allied Health leadership on curriculum.
  • Coordinates entry of graduate residents into programs, including assessment, orientation, and competency verification.
  • Participates in calls, seminars, and work groups; assists in pursuing accreditation as needed.
  • Serves as an educational consultant working with intra- and inter-disciplinary teams on policy, procedure, program development and strategic planning.
  • Contributes to strategic planning, committee appointments, ad-hoc projects, and educational activities as assigned by Clinical Education.
  • Supports planning, development, and administration of continuing education programs that reflect community and SCHS needs and industry expectations.
  • Provides logistical and technical support for educational events, including scheduling, materials, AV setup, tracking attendance, and evaluating content quality.
  • Coordinate the CME program and serve as liaison with physicians, residents, affiliated hospitals, and medical institutions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with physicians, speakers' networks, medical societies, and internal quality teams.
  • Implement ACCME and other regulatory updates, ensuring compliance and accreditation standards are met.
  • Prepare and maintain CME schedules, applications, activity records, and faculty disclosures.
  • Identify practice gaps and develop CME activities to address provider education needs.
  • Manage confidential databases, invoices, budgets, and program evaluations in collaboration with data analysts.
  • Communicate CME schedules and opportunities to providers and the community.
  • Provide administrative and on-site support for medical education programs, including simulation, procedural skills, research events, and liaison work with regional medical schools and libraries.
  • Monitor potential conflicts of interest and support quality assurance initiatives across medical education programs.
  • Serve as liaison with faculty, confirming participation, ensuring learning objectives are defined, and maintaining records required for clinical faculty appointments.
  • May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.
  • Supports Lean principles of continuous improvement with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a champion of change.
  • Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
  • Conducts all activities with highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality; comply with laws and policies and report violations.

Job description

The Post-Licensure Specialist manages assigned Allied Health Programs, Preceptor Development, Medical Continuing Education (UME, GME, CME), unit-specific required classes, and Multi-disciplinary Grand Rounds across St. Charles Health System. The role also provides administrative support for nursing programs managed by RN colleagues, assisting with administration, implementation, and evaluation to help ensure alignment with the organization’s pursuit of Clinical Excellence.

This position does not directly manage other caregivers.

Essential Functions And Duties

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field, or equivalent professional experience enabling full performance of the position.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION

Required: Current American Heart Association (AHA) Provider BLS or obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

Preferred: CHCP - Certified Healthcare CPD Professional Issued by Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions (ACEhp)

Experience

Required: Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in clinical setting. Two (2) years of experience as a clinical educator, trainer, or equivalent role at the unit, departmental, or health system level is required.

Experience applying a variety of teaching methodologies, working with accrediting bodies for clinical or professional excellence, and supporting shared governance and professional advancement systems.

Preferred: Four (4) years’ working experience in higher education or clinical professional development. Working knowledge of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), Specialty Medical Boards, The Oregon Health Authority, Joint commission and physician credentialing rules and regulations, and how to apply them appropriately. Familiarity with adult learning theories. Experience in project management and content creation.
