These dynamic projects utilize cutting-edge technologies such as cell and molecular neurobiology, neurobiochemistry, and single cell or nuclear RNA sequencing approaches will be employed to assess neuroinflammation or lipidomic dysregulation in the brain under neurodegenerative, traumatic, or environmental toxic conditions. In addition, optogenetics, integrated with in vitro and in vivo neurophysiology, chemogenetics, and in vivo calcium imaging in behaving animals, alongside behavioral assays have been routinely applied to elucidate functional and pathological mechanisms in health and neurological diseases. We also leverage other state-of-the-art methodologies such as neuroanatomical tracing to map neural connections in whole brain context by imaging with advanced light-sheet microscopy, or immunohistochemistry with confocal microscopy to examine neural circuitry organization and dysfunctions within the central nervous system.
