We are seeking a Post Doctoral Scholar to join the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The Ohio State University. The Post Doctoral Scholar studies how local environments impact the chemical physics of chemical reactions at battery and atmospheric interfaces, the homeostatic control of photosynthesis, and/or next generation quantum devices. The Post Doctoral Scholar will embark on a program of independent research with the primary goal of determining how computational and theoretical methods can provide thermodynamic design principles for these systems. Duties will include conducting computational research work centered on developing new computational methods for simulating complex chemical and physical systems; leading manuscript preparation for submission to peer-reviewed journals; and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
Qualifications
PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering or a related field by the time of hire is required, along with a strong theoretical or practical background in statistical mechanics, quantum dynamics, or Machine Learning. Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining a research codebase and data; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and a collaborative mentality towards research and mentoring.
Desired skills and techniques include Molecular Dynamics Simulation, Electronic Structure Calculation or Quantum Dynamics. These required and desired skills should be demonstrated through a record of peer-reviewed publications.
