Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia is seeking a Post-Doctoral Researcher to support NIH-funded studies on cerebral hypoperfusion, aging, and Alzheimer's disease. The lab focuses on neuron-glial interactions and neurovascular coupling using rodents, with in vitro and in vivo approaches.
The candidate will assist with laboratory support, histology, microscopy, and data management, while contributing to independent research opportunities within a collaborative environment.
A research technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Joshua Jackson in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at Drexel University College of Medicine. The position is funded through the NIH to examine cerebral hypoperfusion in the context of aging and Alzheimer's disease. Our laboratory is located in Center City Philadelphia in the New College Building. Our research program is focused on neuron‑glial interactions, with an emphasis on understanding cellular and molecular mechanisms by which astrocytes regulate neurovascular coupling, local metabolism, and synaptic development, and brain cancer metastasis. We use a combination of molecular genetic, neuroanatomical, and imaging-based (in vitro and in vivo) approaches in rodents. The position consists of both research and administrative work. The candidate must be well organized, detail-oriented, and a highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills. The candidate should have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; previous experience handling rodents is a strong plus. Responsibilities include laboratory support and maintenance, technical assistance with experiments, preparation of histological specimens, microscopy, animal colony maintenance, and genotyping, as well as administration of reagents, supplies, and databases and ensuring biosafety compliance. The optimal candidate will have a background in neuroscience, and a solid understanding of genetic, cell biological, biochemical, and/or molecular biology techniques. They should be self‑motivated, able to work as part of a team, and may have opportunities to conduct independent research.
