Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to perform highly skilled research or analyses involving complex scientific methods or a complex series of steps. Responsible for overseeing or conducting critical parts of research projects. May also perform the day-to-day coordination of a research group, taking charge of the execution of parts of a research project. This position typically reports to a Principal Investigator (PI).

Nature And Scope

Support transportation engineering research at Howard University. The role engages with internal faculty and researchers, as well as external partners.

Principal Accountabilities

Support the University Transportation Center's mission by helping manage research activities, education and outreach efforts, workforce development programming, and technology transfer initiatives.
Under the guidance of the Principal Investigator, support the planning and execution of federally funded research projects.
Participate in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of transportation engineering data, including field deployments and laboratory work.
Collaborate with faculty and research teams.
Contribute to the preparation of research proposals, technical reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
Help facilitate workshops, seminars, and public engagement activities related to transportation engineering research.
Assist with reporting requirements for sponsored research projects.

Demonstrated research expertise in transportation engineering, with a strong foundation in transportation systems, structural safety, and intelligent infrastructure.
