A leading academic institution seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher in the solar astrophysics group to advance investigations of solar flares. The candidate will engage in both hardware and data analysis tasks, contributing to significant research and mentoring students, within a vibrant and inclusive academic environment.
Short Research Description:
The solar astrophysics group is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to advance X-ray investigations of solar flares. Work entails both hardware-based and analysis-based studies of solar hard X-rays. Instrumentation work includes testing of X-ray detectors and telescope that utilize them. Analysis work includes multiwavelength analysis of solar flare data from the Solar Dynamics Observatory, Solar Orbiter, and other missions.
Job Duties:
30% Laboratory instrumentation work
30% Solar data analysis
20% Writing up results for technical reports and publications
10% Mentoring students
10% General laboratory and group service duties
Other duties of a similar scope as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Physics or closely related field
Graduate-level (or higher) experience in an experimental laboratory
Experience with analysis of astrophysical data, or related data like space sciences, Earth sciences, planetary, etc.
Preferred Requirements:
Experience working with X-ray detectors for astrophysics
Experience performing tests with space hardware to NASA standards

Pay Range: $61,008 - $70,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
