Post-Doctoral Associate
A Post-Doctoral Associate (PDA) based at New York University (NYU) is required to work on topics related to longitudinal aging in the long-running (>80 years) study of rhesus macaque biology on Cayo Santiago, Puerto Rico. The position is funded by the National Institute on Aging, in collaboration with a multi-institution team of investigators. The study seeks to determine the impact of hurricanes on the pace of aging across different domains (physiological, physical, molecular, aging), and the impact of social buffering on mitigating these effects. The PDA will integrate data from these different aging domains, and will be expected to produce manuscripts on the impacts of hurricanes on the multidimensional components of aging, and the modulating impacts of social buffering on these effects.
The position is available from November 1st 2026 for one year, renewable for further years depending on performance and the continued availability of funding. Later start dates are negotiable.
This position is based in New York and the selected candidate will be expected to work onsite as of their effective start date.
We welcome applications from international candidates; however, please note that NYU is not an E-Verify employer and therefore unable to support STEM OPT extensions.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $60,000-65,000 per year. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
A PhD in zoology, animal biology, biological anthropology, or a related field. Evidence of active outputs, such as peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations is strongly preferred. Previous experience working directly in nonhuman primate systems is an advantage but not essential.
