Position Description
Performs specialized Post Doctoral work in the planning, conducting and/or supervision of original research. Responsible for participating in a research project associated with PhD studies and the interpretation of the results of publication. Work is performed under supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions
The candidate will work in Dr. Botte's laboratories (https://www.ceti-lab.com) and/or the NSF Engineering Research Center, CASFER (https://www.casfer.us) and will perform work undersupervision her supervision and senior research associateswith evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of projects.
This position is expected to support a wide array of research projects by developing and executing analytical characterization techniques for liquid, solid, and gas samples. These techniques include carbon analysis, NMR, Raman spectroscopy, ICP-OES, GC-MS, CHNOS, XRD, XPS, and others. The role involves the development of analytical techniques and contributing to projects focused on electrocatalysis, in-situ electrochemistry, in operando methods, electrochemical extraction and recovery of rare earth elements from solid fuels and produced water, hydrogen production from ammonia, conversion and recovery of nitrogen and phosphorus from waste streams, synthesis of carbon nanostructures and graphene, water remediation and disinfection, PFAS detection and remediation, selective catalytic reduction, ammonia synthesis, development of novel battery materials, battery performance evaluation, advanced electrowinning processes, and electrochemical sensor technologies.
The candidate will join a talented, multi-investigator team performing experimental research to design and analyze electrode materials for resources recovery, electrochemical conversion devices, and sensors.
Key Skills Required
Expertise in analytical techniques including IC, NMR, Raman spectroscopy, ICP-OES, GC-MS, CHNOS, XRD, and XPS
Experience with characterization methods for electrochemical devices, batteries, and catalytic materials
Strong background in electrochemistry, materials science, and in-situ/operando analytical methods
Publication record demonstrating expertise in electrochemical characterization techniques
Experience writing grant proposals for federal and private funding (NSF, DOE, NASA, industry partnerships)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Demonstrated capability to work both independently and collaboratively in team settings
Analytical problem-solving skills and creative approach to research challenges
Interpersonal skills and ability to maintain productive professional relationships
Adaptability to work in a dynamic research environment with multiple concurrent projects
Self-motivated with proven ability to meet research milestones and project deadlines
Required Qualifications
PhD in area of project specialization. Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions and other outcomes. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to plan and allocate the workload of employees, providing direct training and supervision as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of rapid prototyping/manufacturing, test rigs assembly.
