Organizational Unit

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools at UNC Chapel Hill. It teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. The School is renowned for excellence in education, research, and pharmacy practices, and was named the top School of Pharmacy in the U.S. by U.S. News and World Report. Its strategic plan emphasizes sustained impact through innovation and collaboration in pharmacy practice, education, research, and public service.

Position Summary

The Community-based Psychiatry Fellowship enhances a pharmacist’s skills in patient-centered care and pharmacy operations, preparing the fellow for managerial, supervisory, and leadership roles. The program focuses on expanding pharmacist-provided services within a clinic model through active research, aiming to develop leadership in community-based or ambulatory care, especially in mental health. The fellowship fosters entrepreneurial skills to lead innovative practice models.

Minimum Education and Experience

Doctor of Pharmacy degree, completion of a PGY1 Community-based Pharmacy Residency or equivalent, eligibility for licensure in North Carolina, and eligibility to become a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner (CPP).

Required Qualifications

Same as minimum education and experience requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Interest in community-based pharmacy, effective communication, critical thinking, leadership, and motivation.
