Post Doc Associate - Laboratory of Stem Cell and Metabolism - Epigenetic Mechanisms

Job no: 541302
Work type: Post Doc Associate
Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL)
Categories: Biology/Life Science, Agricultural Sciences
Department: 60090000 - AG-ANIMAL SCIENCES

Classification Title:

Postdoc Aso

The appointee shall have received the doctorate in a field appropriate to the assigned duties and responsibilities.

The Laboratory of Stem Cell and Metabolism at the University of Florida (UF) seeks a highly motivated and creative Postdoctoral Associate to join a multidisciplinary research team investigating the epigenetic mechanisms that regulate adipose and liver metabolism, fibrosis and metabolic disease.

The successful candidate will lead independent and collaborative research projects focused on chromatin remodeling complexes, cellular metabolism, and the molecular mechanisms underlying obesity and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), using both human cells and mouse models. The position offers opportunities to integrate molecular, metabolic, genetic, epigenomic, and in vivo approaches to define how chromatin organization and remodeling reprogram cellular function in health and disease.

The Postdoctoral Associate will work closely with Dr. Feng Yue (Principal Investigator) and collaborators to develop new research directions, contribute to high-impact studies, and advance the laboratory’s broader mission of understanding metabolic adaptation, stem cell resilience, and tissue regeneration during aging.

The anticipated start date is November 2026.

The Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to:

  • Set the tone for both scientific and scholarly excellence within the lab.
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments using molecular, cellular, genetics and physiological techniques.
  • Drive forward complex and impactful projects, leading to high-quality and impact publications.
  • Develop fellowship and grant applications to support independent research growth.
  • Present findings in lab meetings, departmental seminars, and national/international conferences.
  • Contribute to mentoring of graduate and undergraduate trainees.
  • Engage actively with collaborators and contribute to the lab’s dynamic and collegial environment.

Dr. Yue is fully committed to supporting the career development of all trainees, providing ample opportunities for one-on-one mentorship, professional growth, and preparation for both academic and industry career paths.

The University of Florida is a Land-Grant, Sea-Grant, and Space-Grant institution, encompassing virtually all academic and professional disciplines, with an enrollment of more than 56,000 students. UF is a member of The Association of American Universities. The Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences includes the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences , the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station , the Florida Cooperative Extension Service , the College of Veterinary Medicine , the Florida Sea Grant program, and encompasses 16 on-campus academic departments and schools, 12 Research and Educational Centers (REC) located throughout the state, 6 Research sites/demonstration units administered by RECs or academic departments, and Florida Cooperative Extension Service offices in all 67 counties (counties operate and maintain). The School of Natural Resources and Environment is an interdisciplinary unit housed in IFAS and managed by several colleges on campus. UF/IFAS employs nearly 4,500 people, which includes approximately 990 salaried faculty and 1,400 permanent support personnel located in Gainesville and throughout the state. IFAS, one of the nation’s largest agricultural and natural resources research and education organizations, is administered by a Vice President and four deans: the Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the Dean for Extension and Director of the Florida Cooperative Extension Service, the Dean for Research and Director of the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station, and the Dean for the College of Veterinary Medicine. UF/IFAS also engages in cooperative work with Florida A&M University in Tallahassee.

Commensurate with Education and Experience

Required Qualifications:

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. (or M.D./Ph.D., foreign equivalent acceptable) in a relevant biological science, such as molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related field, and demonstrate a strong record of research productivity and peer-reviewed publications.Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land-Grant system. Candidates must also have a commitment to UF core values.
