Qualifications

• POST-Certified with a qualifying Peace Officer Basic Course (minimum 512 hours).
• Probation completed and officer confirmation status within one year of sworn service by Feb 5, 2027.
• Must be in good standing with current or former certifying agency.
• Recent law enforcement service within the last five years per MCA 7-32-303.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned City area by vehicle, bike, or on foot to preserve law and order and enforce laws.
• Responds to calls including crashes, assaults, disturbances, thefts, and civil complaints.
• Identify evidence and preserve items; photograph as needed during investigations.
• Cooperate with patrol and detective divisions to investigate criminal activity.
• Apprehends and processes suspects, issues citations per policy.
• Ensure arrested persons are processed into jail following state and Police Department standards.
