Advanced manufacturing pathways include Shear-Assisted Processing and Extrusion (ShAPE™), friction stir processing, cold spray, and variants that may include additive manufacturing processes. Applicants should have a background in thermomechanical processing methods but also have some knowledge of physical, mechanical, and process metallurgy so that they can work with metallurgists to design intended processing conditions.
