Job summary

The Data Science Institute (DSI) at Columbia University invites applicants for the role of Post-Award Grants Manager to support our Finance and Grants function. The incumbent will monitor monthly grant activity and expenditures, and liaise with SPA, SPF and other departments to ensure grants are properly managed.

Reporting to the Director of Post-Award Finance, this role ensures compliance with federal, state and sponsor terms, handles required reports and closeouts, and helps improve post-award

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 3 years of related experience.
• Experience managing complex sponsored research portfolios.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to prioritize a large volume of work in a demanding, deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships across the institution.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Post-award accounting, management and reconciliation with faculty and administrators.
• Review Notices of Award and terms with SPA and legal as needed.
• Allocate personnel to projects and monitor payroll per sponsor guidelines.
• Perform financial forecasting and monthly budget-to-actual analysis.
• Ensure non-salary expenses are allowable and allocable.
• Initiate and modify subawards as needed.
• Ensure timely progress reports and final closeouts to sponsors.
• Analyze requests for prior approval of post-award changes.
• Review, coordinate, and negotiate award modifications.
• Assist PIs and staff with project administrative issues.
• Advise on responsibilities to meet unusual award requirements.
• Maintain audit readiness and compliance with terms and policies.
• Develop and improve post-award processes and SOPs.
• Additional duties as assigned.
