Job description

Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist
Organization: United Cerebral Palsy Association of Hawaii
Location: Honolulu, HI – In-office and fieldwork

Summary Position:

Speech Language Pathology services includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Identification of children with communication or language disorders and delays in development of communication skills, including the diagnosis and appraisal of specific disorders and delays in those s
  • Referral for medical or other professional services necessary for habilitation or rehabilitation of children with communication skills;
  • Provision of services for the habilitation, rehabilitation, or prevention of communication or language disorders and delays in development of communication skills;
  • Conduct an Multidisciplinary Development Evaluation (MDE) to determine initial Part C eligibility and/or to identify present levels of development. The MDE includes an evaluation of the child’s present level of functioning in each of the following developmental areas: cognition; physical (including v vision and hearing); communication; social or emotional; and adaptive, and also include a review of pertinent records related to the child’s current health status and medical history:
  • Function as a Primary Service Provider (PSP) to serve as the liaison between the family and other team members in order to support all outcomes and objectives in the child’s Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP) by utilizing coaching practices and receiving support from Consultants who represent the identified areas of need in order to support the child’s family to strengthen their abilities in promoting the child’s learning and development within daily routines and activities
  • Function as a Consultant by utilizing coaching practices to support the PSP, parents, and other caregivers, to strengthen their abilities and build their capacity in promoting the child’s learning and development within daily routines and activities; an
  • Participate in the IFSP meetings and other meetings (i.e., Family Support Team (FST) meeting, Joint Visit Planning (JVP) meeting, Transition meeting) regarding the child’s progress.
Position Qualifications:

Speech Language Pathologist must have a current, active Licensed Speech Language Pathologist in State of Hawaii.

Personnel Qualifications
Exception
  • Speech Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow with a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology who has a valid provisional license in the State of Hawaii. Must be under the direct supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist. Must obtain license with 1 years.
  • Non-Hawaii State licensed Speech Language Pathologist with a valid license in the United States or the District of Columbia with the exception that the Speech Language Pathologist will receive their Hawaii State Speech Language Pathologist licenses within 90 days upon hire.
Other Duties May Include:
  • Participating in fundraising activities for UCPAH.
  • Participating with UCPAH staff to ensure safety, sanitation and security of office assets of the organization.
  • All other duties assigned.
