Job summary

Children’s Home of York is seeking a Foster Care Caseworker to provide comprehensive case management, advocacy, and support for program youth, families, and resource families. The role includes attending court hearings, ISP meetings, and supervision, with a focus on trauma‑informed care and culturally responsive service delivery.

Responsibilities include maintaining documentation, coordinating transportation where needed, and collaborating with referral providers to secure appropriate placements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any field required; social work/mental health preferred.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• 21 years of age or older and subject to required clearances.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Agency and Program policies in a professional and ethical manner.
• Provide case management and advocacy for youth, families, and resource families.
• Perform Resource Home Visits and Safety Checks every other week or as ISP.
• Transport clients when needed in the absence of a Transportation Aide.
• Attend court hearings, ISP meetings, team meetings, and case reviews.
• Attend scheduled trainings and participate actively.
• Receive referrals and assist with resource family placements.
• Prepare reports and maintain files and records; complete other administrative tasks as assigned.
• Establish positive relationships with referral providers and community.
• Attend regular supervision with an immediate supervisor.
• Maintain adoption units when needed and assigned.
• Complete progression/qualification duties as outlined for higher levels.

Job description

• Comply with all Agency and Program policies, procedures and protocols in a professional and ethical manner
• Provide case management and advocacy services including placement supervision, support, guidance, and interventions for program youth, their families, and resource families, as well as maintaining appointments in compliance with Agency and governing body regulations
• Perform Resource Home Visits and Safety Checks at least every other week but more frequently as outlined in the ISP
• Transport clients as needed in the absence of an available Transportation Aide
• Attend court hearings, ISP meetings, team meetings, and case reviews as scheduled
• Attend and actively participate in scheduled training experiences
• Receive referrals made to the program and assists with determining appropriate resource family matches
• Prepare and complete the required reports and documentation in a timely and accurate manner, maintain files and records, and perform other required administrative tasks as assigned
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with the referral providers, inter-agency members, resource families, and the community.
• Attend regular supervision with immediate supervisor.
• Maintain adoption units when needed and assigned.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor or Associate Director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

• Ability to intermittently stand and sit
• Pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying as required
• Must be able to describe and articulate events in both written and spoken English
• Must be able to read and comprehend reports written in English
• Ability to provide vehicular transportation of clients
• Has the mental and emotional capacity to work in a highly stressful environment
• Maintains a flexible schedule for appointments and on-call duties

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in any field required; degree in social work/mental health field preferred.
• Successful completion of Caseworker orientation
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• 21 years of age or older
• All required clearances as required by state regulations
• Be sensitive to and comfortable with working in an agency that provides services to a culturally diverse population.

The above description is reflective of the core duties and qualifications for all Foster Care Caseworker position, regardless of level. For individuals to be considered for hire or promotion to the next level, the following additional duties and/or requirements apply:

Foster Care Caseworker II ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 3 years of caseworker (or similar position) work experience.
• Must hold Trauma-informed Certification or other approved certification
• In addition to core job duties, Caseworker II will serve as a trainer/mentor for other Caseworkers to assist with onboarding and other skills-training initiatives as required.
