Job summary

Protouch Staffing is seeking a Civil/Maritime Engineer to design structural elements for marine and waterfront projects in Houston, with travel across the U.S. and internationally.

You will analyze foundations, piers, and ATONs, applying soil-structure interaction principles under gravity and lateral loading. Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree with EIT, preferably a PE, and have experience with waterfront structures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Maritime Engineering, or related discipline.
  • EIT registration is required.
  • PE license is preferred.
  • Marine/ waterfront/ port or industrial structures experience required.
  • Knowledge of concrete, steel, timber design.
  • Willingness to travel at least 20% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Design structural, geotechnical, and civil elements for marine, waterfront, and industrial projects.
  • Perform analysis and design of foundations, retaining walls, piers, trestles, ATONs, and other structures.
  • Apply soil-structure interaction principles under gravity and lateral loading.
  • Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing of concrete, steel, and timber structures.
  • Develop constructible design plans, technical details, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare design calculations under the direction of senior engineers.
  • Coordinate drawing packages from IFR through IFC.
  • Participate in construction support and field inspections.
  • Inspect and evaluate existing waterfront structures.
  • Support rehabilitation and repair projects for marine structures.
  • Develop inspection reports as required.
  • Interface with port authorities, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, private companies, and other clients.
  • Perform design checks as part of QA and engineering best practices.
  • Review and check design computations prepared by other engineers.
  • Utilize structural, geotechnical, marine, and drafting software for project development.

  • Understanding of foundations, retaining walls, piers, trestles, mooring structures, and other waterfront structures.
  • Knowledge of soil structure interaction and gravity and lateral loading.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, spSlab, spMat, Mathcad, LPILE, GROUP, A-Pile, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Optimoor, or similar engineering software preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and technical problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and technical studies.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen for projects involving applicable federal inspection requirements.
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 20 percent within the United States and internationally.
