At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by delivering the maritime infrastructure that keeps global commerce moving. From container terminal expansions and shipyard improvements to waterfront resiliency and port modernization programs, our projects help strengthen critical infrastructure and support economic growth throughout North America and beyond.

Our Ports & Maritime team is seeking a Civil Engineer based in Philadelphia who is passionate about port infrastructure and looking to expand their technical design capabilities while building upon existing experience delivering maritime and transportation projects. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who has worked closely with design consultants, contractors, and stakeholders on port or terminal development projects and is ready to take a more active role in engineering design and project delivery.

In this role, you'll support the planning, design, and execution of complex maritime infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on upland facilities associated with shipyards, container terminals, and waterfront developments. Leveraging your experience reviewing engineering designs, monitoring construction activities, coordinating project schedules, and supporting multidisciplinary project teams, you'll work alongside experienced maritime engineers to further develop your expertise in site civil engineering, utilities, drainage, grading, paving, and infrastructure design.

You'll collaborate with engineers, planners, architects, scientists, contractors, and port stakeholders to deliver projects from planning through construction while gaining exposure to Jacobs' global Ports & Maritime network and technical resources. As your technical responsibilities grow, you'll have opportunities to contribute to increasingly complex engineering design efforts while continuing to draw upon your project coordination, construction oversight, and client-facing experience. Working together, we'll help you continue evolving as a well-rounded maritime engineer while making a lasting impact on the future of ports, terminals, and waterfront infrastructure.

Here's what you'll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the planning, design, and delivery of transportation, civil infrastructure, or maritime projects.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and experience developing site civil engineering designs, including grading, drainage, utilities, and paving plans.
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders throughout project development and construction.
  • Knowledge of waterfront, port, terminal, shipyard, or other marine infrastructure design and construction practices.
  • Experience reviewing engineering designs, construction documents, schedules, and technical deliverables to support successful project execution.
  • Strong understanding of design management principles and the ability to coordinate design activities across multiple disciplines and project phases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interface with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and project teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, build relationships, and contribute to project delivery in a collaborative team environment.
