Your impact

At Jacobs, we’re partnering with clients to develop resilient ports, marine terminals, waterfront facilities, and coastal infrastructure that strengthen communities and support global commerce. As a Civil 3D technician based in Philadelphia, PA, you’ll help transform engineering concepts into accurate, coordinated design documents for complex ports and maritime projects.

Working alongside a multidisciplined team, you’ll develop drawings and three-dimensional models that support projects from early planning through final design and construction. Your attention to quality, collaboration, and design standards will help our teams deliver practical solutions that meet client and project needs.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop civil design drawings and three-dimensional models using Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD
  • Prepare site layouts, grading plans, drainage systems, utility plans, alignments, profiles, corridors, surfaces, and earthwork documentation
  • Support the design of marine terminals, waterfront facilities, port infrastructure, access roads, and related site improvements
  • Translate engineering concepts, sketches, survey information, and design criteria into coordinated project deliverables
  • Assist with the preparation of construction plans, details, quantities, and other technical documentation
  • Coordinate design information across civil, structural, coastal, geotechnical, and other project disciplines
  • Apply client, project, and industry CAD standards to drawings and models
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate comments accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain organized design files and support document-control and quality-review processes
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on quality, innovation, and responsive client service
Here’s what you’ll need
  • An associate degree or technical certificate in civil engineering technology, computer-aided design, drafting, or a related field
  • Experience using Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD to prepare civil engineering drawings and models
  • Experience developing 3D surface models including grading (feature lines and corridors), pavement and earthworks documentation and cut/fill and volumes calculations.
  • Experience developing 3D utility models and producing plans and profiles for gravity and pressure pipe networks. Ability to model, detect and resolve utility clashes in plan and profile.
  • Experience supporting civil or site-development projects within an engineering, architecture, construction, or related consulting environment
  • Ability to interpret engineering sketches, survey data, design criteria, and technical documentation
  • Working knowledge of CAD standards, drawing organization, file management, and quality control practices, including the ability to create, manage and maintain Civil 3D style reference libraries.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams
  • Ability to manage assigned work while meeting established quality, schedule, and project requirements
  • Experience applying client, municipal, state, federal, or port authority CAD standards
  • Local to Philadelphia, PA
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit.
  • Experience supporting ports, maritime, coastal, waterfront, transportation, or heavy civil infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with marine terminals, waterfront sites, port access infrastructure, or coastal resiliency projects
