Job description

At Portland Leather Goods, we believe that every product has a story – and we need a talented visual storyteller to help us bring that story to life. Our photography doesn’t just showcase leather goods – it captures the craftsmanship, color, texture, and emotion that our customers have come to love. That’s where you come in. We’re looking for a highly skilled, detail-obsessed, and creatively driven Photographer who thrives in a fast-paced, studio-based environment. If you’re passionate about creating beautiful, consistent product imagery and enjoy collaborating with a tight-knit creative team, we want to hear from you!

This isn’t just about snapping pretty pictures (though we love those too) – it’s about owning the visual identity of our products from concept to final edit. From studio lighting setups and prop styling to batch editing and file management, you’ll play a key role in making sure every item we launch looks its absolute best. Are you the kind of person who notices the tiniest wrinkle in a laydown shot? Who gets excited by styling variations and lighting tweaks? Then you just might be the eye we’re looking for.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Inventory Manager and Producer to receive samples, photograph products, and deliver photography assets to the eCommerce team, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and launch deadlines.
  • Manage awareness of product launch deadlines and delivery expectations, ensuring timely execution of all tasks.
  • Work closely with the Director, Inventory Manager and Producer to prioritize tasks, address changing deadlines, and ensure high-quality photography assets are delivered on time.
  • Communicate effectively with the Director, Photography Department, and other departments, managing product flow through task management software and ensuring alignment on project progress.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Producer to recommend product imagery strategies and shot counts and assist the Director in selecting props for in-studio shoots.
  • Update and maintain technical branding guideline documents as new product lines are introduced and define styling and lighting guidelines for new categories.
  • Follow shot lists and briefs to light, style, and shoot products, ensuring consistent, high-quality imagery that matches brand standards.
  • Organize and manage photography assets and equipment, including photographing multiple samples and assortments, ensuring secure backup of files, and maintaining photo equipment and props.
  • Photograph and compile a high volume of product images, including creative laydowns in a studio environment, collaborating with social and eCommerce teams as needed, and attending campaign photoshoots as required.
  • Edit and retouch photos to enhance image quality, ensuring consistency with brand standards and project specifications.
  • Adjust color, exposure, and composition to achieve the desired visual effects, correcting any flaws in the images.
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years product photographer experience (required).
  • 2+ years photo editing & retouching experience (required).
  • Bold idea creation & innovation is a must!
  • High attention to detail!
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter, skilled at multitasking and able to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and clearly.
  • Able to work well under pressure, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including occasional nights and weekends, if needed.

What we can offer you!

  • Hourly rate of pay (dependent upon experience)
  • Health, dental & vision insurance (75% cost covered by PLG for team member)
  • 401(k) after 1 year with 4% company match
  • Discounted pet insurance
  • Dynamic & collaborative team environment
