The Project Portfolio Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating multiple projects within an organization's portfolio to ensure strategic alignment, optimal resource allocation, and successful delivery of business objectives. This role serves as the central point of coordination between project teams, senior leadership, and stakeholders while maintaining visibility into project performance across the entire portfolio.
Bachelor's degree in business administration, project management, engineering, or related field. PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project/program management certification preferred. Minimum 7-10 years of project management experience with at least 3-5 years in portfolio or program management roles.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities with experience in portfolio management tools and methodologies. Excellent communication and presentation skills for executive-level audiences. Proficiency in project management software, financial analysis, and data visualization tools. Proven ability to influence without direct authority and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
Experience in similar industry or organizational context, familiarity with Agile and traditional project methodologies, and demonstrated success managing large, complex project portfolios with budgets exceeding $10M annually.
