Position Summary
The Portfolio Operations Partner will work closely with firm leadership and portfolio company executives to drive value creation across operating businesses. This role blends hands‑on operational leadership with strategic oversight, ensuring that portfolio companies achieve sustainable growth, margin expansion, and long‑term enterprise value. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in transforming operations, supporting management teams, and aligning execution with investor objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Value Creation
- Partner with portfolio company leadership to develop and execute value‑creation plans, focusing on revenue growth, cost optimization, operational efficiency, and working capital improvements.
- Lead strategic initiatives such as ERP implementations, supply chain optimization, sales force effectiveness, pricing strategies, and M&A integration.
- Establish and track KPIs, dashboards, and operational scorecards for accountability and performance visibility.
Strategic Partnering
- Serve as a trusted advisor to portfolio company CEOs and management teams, balancing operational rigor with respect for founder/management culture.
- Collaborate with investment professionals to evaluate new acquisition opportunities, conducting operational diligence and integration planning.
- Support exit readiness initiatives, including performance narrative, scalability proof points, and operational documentation.
Governance & Oversight
- Represent the firm in portfolio company board meetings, contributing operational insight and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Drive cross‑portfolio best practices, creating playbooks and shared resources to accelerate improvements across the portfolio.
- Monitor financial and operational performance, proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
Qualifications
- Candidates must be based in the Northeastern US.
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, finance, or general management within private equity‑backed or family‑owned businesses.
- Demonstrated success in value creation initiatives—revenue growth, cost transformation, supply chain optimization, or digital enablement.
- Experience serving as COO, CFO, GM, or divisional president preferred.
- Strong financial acumen and ability to partner with investment teams on due diligence and structuring.
- Exceptional relationship‑building skills; able to earn trust with portfolio company leadership and drive change without undermining management.
- Flexible mindset: ability to toggle between board‑level strategic conversations and hands‑on operational problem‑solving.
