Job description

Natixis is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vice President (VP) – Portfolio Manager to join our team in New York. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the loan portfolio for the Americas book, covering both U.S. and Latin American (LATAM) markets. Your primary focus will be managing credit exposures greater than one year for Infrastructure, Project Finance, renewables, and electricity pipelines, as well as related commercial and investment banking products.

As a key member of our team, you will balance supporting our origination partners to meet client needs with maintaining strict independence to proactively identify credit risks, make rating recommendations, and optimize our portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for the direct credit quality monitoring of a dedicated loan portfolio from post-closing through final maturity or resolution. Supervised by the Head of Portfolio Management, your primary duties will include:

• Credit Analysis and Lending Administration: Preparing comprehensive annual reviews, quarterly reviews, loan renewals, amendments, waivers, and watchlist reports (incorporating provisioning, in collaboration with our workout team) for assigned borrowers.
• Portfolio Optimization: Developing quarterly portfolio reviews and assessing optimization strategies for credit exposures within your sector.
• Financial Modeling and Valuation: Preparing, updating, and maintaining complex financial models while ensuring the accuracy of all credit ratings in accordance with diverse rating methodologies and the U.S. regulatory framework.
• Transaction Underwriting and Advisory: Reviewing new deal opportunities and drafting opinions that evaluate transactions based on prospective ratings, returns, and alignment with overall portfolio strategy.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering seamlessly with Origination and Risk departments to ensure credit rating upgrades and downgrades are processed in a timely manner.
• Audit and Regulatory Compliance: Working collaboratively with internal audit, loan review, external auditors, and regulatory bodies to address inquiries regarding your assigned portfolio.
• Continuous Improvement: Leading initiatives to streamline processes, eliminate operational inefficiencies, and present actionable solutions to senior management.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience

• Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree required; an MBA or master’s degree in a related field is highly preferred.
• Professional Credentials: CFA designation is a strong plus.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in portfolio management, credit analysis, and infrastructure/project finance within a corporate or investment banking environment.

Technical and Analytical Skills

• Software Proficiency: Exceptional command of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), with advanced capabilities in financial cash flow modeling.
• Programming Skills: Ability to build and maintain Excel VBA macros or utilize general object-oriented programming is preferred.
• Analytical Ability: Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of legal lending contracts and the regulatory aspects of corporate banking.

Interpersonal and Communication Skills

• Communication: Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to confidently present and defend credit recommendations to senior committees.
• Language Skills: Professional fluency in Spanish is highly preferred to support the LATAM portfolio.
• Work Style: A self-starter with the ability to work independently, multitask under tight deadlines, and collaborate effectively with diverse internal partners.

The salary range for this position will be between $160,000 - 200,000. Natixis is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills set, applicable licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total rewards package. Natixis also offers a generous benefits package, and you may be eligible for a discretionary incentive award depending on company and individual performance.
