Job summary

Third-Coast-Bank in Austin, TX is seeking a seasoned Senior Portfolio Manager to oversee larger and more complex middle market and corporate credits, ensuring soundness, profitability, and growth objectives.

You will support Corporate Banking teams with deal qualification, due diligence, and loan structuring, lead underwriting of complex deals, monitor portfolios, and coach junior staff while complying with credit policies and banking regulations.

Qualifications

  • Must identify risks in complex loan transactions and mitigate accordingly.
  • Experience with middle market and corporate banking portfolios.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet timelines.
  • Understanding of banking regulations and loan documentation.
  • Ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of credit approvals and structuring.

Responsibilities

  • Support Corporate Bankers in managing client relationships.
  • Lead underwriting of complex deal structures through credit approval.
  • Conduct portfolio reviews and monitoring.
  • Coordinate with internal partners and counsel on loan documents.
  • Provide training and coaching to portfolio managers.
  • Participate in compliance training including BSA/AML.
  • Travel between Third Coast Bank offices as required.

Responsible for managing larger and most complex middle market and corporate credits. Ensures the portfolio achieves soundness, profitability, and growth objectives. Provides credit and sales support to Corporate Banking.

Skills and Experience:
  • 10+ years' work experience related to various aspects of middle market and corporate banking
  • Must be able to identify risks inherent in complex loan transactions and address/mitigate accordingly
  • Must possess an extensive knowledge of various loan structures and formulate sound credit recommendations
  • Must possess a disciplined approach to managing a portfolio of middle market/corporate banking accounts
  • Must possess a proficient knowledge of credit policy, banking regulations, and loan documentation issues
  • Must understand and work effectively within the credit culture of the company
  • Good mathematical, reading comprehension and writing skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to verbally communicate effectively one-to-one and in groups
  • Must be able to write clearly and effectively
  • Must be able to develop and maintain cohesive, cooperative internal and external working relationships
  • Must have good personal organization and time management skills
  • Must allocate time effectively and independently prioritize workload to meet timelines
  • Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.

  • Support Corporate Bankers in managing existing and developing new client relationships
  • Assist Corporate Banking team in deal qualification assessment, due diligence, and loan structuring
  • Understand complex transactions and related risk (credit, market, operations, legal/compliance, etc.)
  • Lead the underwriting of complex deal structures through the credit approval process
  • Partner with team in reviewing and negotiating loan documents and engaging counsel as needed
  • Conduct portfolio reviews and continuous portfolio monitoring for assigned portfolio
  • Provide training and coaching of portfolio managers and underwriters
  • Coordinate with internal partners & internal discussions (credit discussions, screens, etc.)
  • Special projects as needed
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Minimum of ten (10) years Portfolio Manager experience in Middle Market
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from internal clients, regulatory agencies, and employees
  • Advanced knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies
  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation, including use of word, excel, and office
  • Advanced math skills
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
Position Type:

This position is a full-time, exempt position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
