The Position

Our bank client is seeking a Portfolio Manager – Commercial Lender to be based in the Boston, MA market. The successful candidate will handle a variety of CRE & C&I loans, assist senior officers with larger, more complex loans, and provide other customer services as needed.

The position offers a salary of up to $125K and an excellent benefits package. (This is not a remote position)

  • Develop and manage commercial loan accounts that meet lending requirements, maximizing profitability while minimizing risk.
  • Solicit commercial clients; actively seek and secure new business through client and prospect calls, referrals, and cross-selling.
  • Obtain and maintain COIs and attend networking events in the assigned area.
  • Generate a variety of commercial and real estate loans.
  • Contribute to deposit growth through cross-selling and promoting banking products.
  • Analyze creditworthiness of customers and the merits of existing loans.
  • Review and analyze title reports or surveys to identify issues and risks.
  • Assess applicants' financial status, credit, and property to determine loan feasibility or refer to a credit analyst.
  • Meet with applicants to gather information and answer questions about the loan process.
  • Guide loans through approval and closing stages.
  • Promote and cross-sell bank products and services, including insurance and trust services.
  • Represent the bank in the community through professional and civic involvement.

Skills and experience you bring include:

  • A bachelor’s degree in banking, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Seven or more years of lending or credit support experience, focusing on business relationships.
  • Proven ability to generate C&I loans of $12MM to $15MM annually.
  • Credit training and/or underwriting experience are preferred.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements.
  • Knowledge of sales, loan processing, and closing processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of Commercial Banking products, including C&I and Commercial Real Estate loans.
  • Understanding of federal and state banking regulations.
  • Ability to grow loans, client relationships, and cross-sell bank products.
  • Strong analytical skills and effective communication abilities, with proficiency in Outlook and Word.
