The role requires extensive leadership experience in hardware/software development, DoD program exposure, and an active DoD security clearance. Relocation to North Alabama area is preferred for on-site work.

Leidos' Defense Systems is seeking a talented Portfolio Manager to join in on the cutting‑edge working happening in our Indirect Fire Protection Capability/Force Protection Business Area. Leidos Defense Systems Sector provides a diverse portfolio of systems, solutions, and services covering land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace for customers worldwide. Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct one‑on‑one and group meetings with the program teams to check status, provide guidance, and work through any issues to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Interface with customers to develop relationships, ensure the highest quality of service, and drive future business opportunities.
  • Provide business expertise to proposals, ensuring that submissions align with mission, financial, and Division strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate with cross‑functional partners (engineering, finance, contracts, growth, supply chain) to ensure alignment and timely execution of program goals.
  • Provide solutions to any identified deficiencies within the planning and execution of the portfolio.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance team efficiency, quality, and overall program execution.
Basic Qualifications
  • Candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in engineering, business, or an equivalent degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10+ years or prior relevant experience. Generally has 7+ years of experience supervising or leading teams or projects.
  • Experience building strategic relationships with internal and external customers while collaborating with company / industry leaders to gather cutting edge solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading development or production teams to develop hardware / software solutions.
  • Twelve or more years of experience in leading cross disciplinary teams of engineers, technicians, and customers to deliver hardware / software solutions.
  • Must have strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security clearance. (U.S. citizenship is required)
  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Highly organized and responsive, demonstrating the ability to work both independently and collaboratively due to a fast‑paced and highly productive work environment.
  • A background in electrical engineering to provide additional insight with respect to technical challenges.
  • Active and current DoD Secret clearance.

Pay Range

Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
