Job summary

Bridgewater Bank is seeking a driven Portfolio Manager to join the Lending team. You will partner with bankers to manage loan and deposit relationships while balancing risk and reward. You will assist with origination, underwriting, and ongoing portfolio management.

This role requires a finance/business degree and 3+ years banking experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Bridgewater offers a hybrid work model and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business or related field is required.
  • 3+ years related banking experience is required.
  • Superior analytical/reasoning skills are essential.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Bankers with the loan origination process: attend client meetings and property visits, complete initial underwriting, prepare pre-flight presentations, draft loan proposals, collect financial statements, request credit presentations, act as primary contact during underwriting, ensure loan structure adheres to policy, review final presentations for approval.
  • Assist Bankers in ongoing management of the loan portfolio: respond to client inquiries, attend client meetings and site inspections, collect financial information for renewals and covenant testing, complete covenant waiver proposals, prepare repricing comments, monitor past due loans and real estate taxes.
  • Work with management on special portfolio risk projects.
  • Attend networking events.
  • Develop expertise in the loan closing process including documentation and due diligence items.
  • Gain understanding of structuring, negotiating, and pricing new loans and renewals to maximize profitability.
  • Acquire knowledge of loan and deposit programs and bank products.
  • Maintain knowledge of software, compliance, policies and procedures related to loan department.
  • Adhere to bank policies, security requirements and government regulations including BSA.

Job description

We are seeking a driven and customer-focused Portfolio Manager to join our Lending team. Reporting to the Portfolio Manager Team Lead, the Portfolio Manager partners with banking teams to manage, maintain, and further develop loan and deposit relationships of clients while balancing appropriate risk and reward to the bank.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Bankers with the loan origination process:
    • Attend client meetings and property visits for prospective clients
    • Complete initial underwriting for Banker review
    • Prepare pre-flight presentations for approval
    • Draft loan proposals for client review
    • Collect financial statements and documentation needed for underwriting
    • Request credit presentations from the Analyst Group
      • Act as the primary contact for questions during underwriting
      • Ensure loan structure and reporting requirements adhere to the Bank’s Credit Policy
      • Review final presentations prior to submission for approval
    • Ensure any change-memos needed prior to closing are completed
  • Assist Bankers in the ongoing management of the team’s loan portfolio:
    • Respond to client inquiries and keep bankers apprised of client activity
    • Attend client meetings and complete site inspections
    • Collect financial information for loan renewals, covenant testing and annual reviews
    • Complete covenant waiver proposals for Loan Committee
    • Prepare repricing comments for Loan Committee
    • Assist bankers with monitoring of past due loans and real estate taxes
  • Work with bank management on special projects related to monitoring and managing of portfolio risk
  • Attend networking functions and various industry events
  • Develop an expertise in the loan closing process to include knowledge of all proper loan documentation and borrower entity documents as well as due diligence items such as title insurance, appraisals, environmental reports, and other items necessary to properly fund a loan
  • Gain the understanding of how to structure, negotiate, and price new loans and renewals to maximize bank profitability
  • Obtain knowledge of various loan and deposit programs and bank products
  • Maintain knowledge of all supporting software, compliance, policies and procedures as they relate to the loan department
  • Adheres to the bank’s policies, procedures, security requirements and government regulations including (but not limited to) BSA

Compensation & Benefits

The typical annual base pay range for this role is between $94,500- $114,350. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
