Job summary

Pivot Energy, a leading ESG-focused IPP in distributed renewable energy, seeks a highly motivated Manager to own asset management models, govern data inputs, and drive forecasting accuracy. This role reports to the VP of Asset Management and can be remote within the U.S.

with regular Denver-based office presence. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in analytics within asset management or finance, strong Python skills (Pandas/Numpy), Excel, and BI tool experience.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in analytical asset management/finance/infrastructure
  • Proficiency in Python for forecasting workflows
  • Strong Excel and presentation skills (PowerPoint)
  • Experience with BI tools and SQL preferred

Responsibilities

  • Own operating model forecasts, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and auditability
  • Govern data inputs, assumptions, and model documentation including change logs
  • Improve forecast quality by refining inputs and maintaining within thresholds
  • Collaborate with VP, Asset Management to define decision rights for inputs
  • Establish monthly operating model cadence and deliver updates within 5 business days of close
  • Lead architecture and maintenance of long-term operating model as a scalable tool
  • Integrate probabilistic scenarios (P50/P90/P99) into fund-level forecasts
  • Provide regular sensitivity and scenario analyses of drivers on portfolio returns
  • Lead annual budgeting at project/portfolio level and align with long-term models
  • Develop and maintain dispatch/operational forecasting models with geographic and pricing signals
  • Calibrate models against actuals to improve forecast accuracy
  • Provide clear, data-driven recommendations for capital planning and debt optimization

Job description

ROLE OVERVIEW

Pivot Energy, an ESG-focused IPP for distributed renewable energy, is looking for a highly self-motivated individual to manage Pivot Energy’s asset management models. The Manager will focus on improvements to operating model functionality, day-to-day model management, and sensitivity/scenario analyses.

Reporting to the VP of Asset Management. The candidate may be based remotely in the U.S., with periodic travel to our Denver home office and other company locations or for industry conferences, however, preference will be given to candidates based in or around Denver, with the expectation of working from the office on a weekly basis.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the product owner for the OperatingModelensuringtimely,accurate, and auditable forecasts are available to relevant stakeholders
  • Oversee data and assumption governance, data quality, model releases, documentation,change log,and stakeholder adoptionof the operating model
  • Ensure forecast quality through continuous refinement of input sources, assumptions, and working within forecast thresholds for accuracy(e.g.less than 2% unreconciled variance between model outputs and financial reporting)
  • Work with the VP, Asset Management todetermineand document decision rights over assumptions and data inputs
  • In collaboration with the VP, Asset Management,establishthe operating cadence of forecasts and reviews – delivering an updated operating model monthly within 5 business days of financial close
  • Over time, improve the use of manual spreadsheets across the Asset Management workflows
  • Operating ModelLeadership-Lead thearchitecture, and maintenance of thelong-term Operating Modelfor all operating projectsandworkingwith internal teams to ensure the Operating Model architecture is a scalable, joint-use tool,maintainingrigorous documentation and version control
  • Probabilistic Yield Analysis– Integrate P50, P90, and P99 scenarios into fund-level forecasts including distribution analysis to support investor projectionsand reporting
  • Sensitivityand ScenarioAnalysis– Provide regular and ad hoc analysesquantifying the impact of key operational and market drivers on project and portfolio returns
  • Strategic Budget Alignment–Lead the annual project and portfolio-level budgeting process, translating operational trends into return-optimized budgets evaluated against long-term forecasting models.
  • Operations Modeling to Support Capital Planning–OperationalVelocityModeling–Quantifythefinancial impact(NPV and IRR) of improving timelines from Permission to Operate to Substantial Completion, segmented by market and EPC, tosupportdebt conversion andacceleratecashcollections.
  • Predictive Capital Guidance–Translate trends into forecasts that guide capital planning decisions on theoptimaltiming for refinancing or recapitalization based on projected cash flow stability
  • Metric Driven Recommendations–Provide standardized NPV and IRR impact assessments for all proposed portfolio interventions, moving beyond simple cost-benefit business cases to drive fund level requests.
  • Dispatch Optimization Modeling–Develop and maintain multi-variable forecasting models thatoptimizedaily State of Charge profiles, incorporating geographic variables, shifting load patterns, and localized market pricing signals.
  • Performance Calibration–Establish systematic workflows to evaluate actual battery dispatch against forecasts, analyzing historical variance to continuously refine forward-looking revenue capture models.
  • BESS Outage and Availability Modeling –Performstochastic analysis on BESS outages across markets and produce reports on revenue and performance impacts at the project and portfolio level. Translate battery state of health and operational data into long-term availability factors and degradation curves.
  • Data Integration and Reporting –Integrate actual operational and financial data into the Operating Model to enable updates and real-time portfolio visibility. Build dashboards and distribute forecasts on top of existing P&L reports to support cash flow and funding decision-making.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science, orasimilar quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of experience in an analytical role withinthe assetmanagement, finance, infrastructure, renewable energy, or utilities sectors.
  • Data Automation:Proficiencyin Python (Pandas,Numpy)for building repeatable, automated forecasting workflows – not just data preparation
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities with attention to detail.
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Excel; Microsoft PowerPoint; Google Suite
  • Excellent organizational and effective time management skills to meet and prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
  • Interest in the solar energy industry and long-term commitment to sustainability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly and concisely.
PREFERRED COMPETENCIES
  • Master’s degree in business, finance,engineeringoraquantitativefield.
  • CFA or advanced financial modeling certificationa plus.
  • Previouswork experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or finance.
  • Exposure to energy performance monitoring and financial analysis,or battery storage operations
  • Experience with business intelligence (BI) tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), database management (SQL)

$105,000 - $130,000 a year

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The estimated base salary range for this position is $105,000 -$130,000 depending on relevant experience, along with eligibility for the company’s substantial bonus plan, with a target bonus of 30% of annual salary (prorated in first year based on start date).
