Job description

CREATIVITY IS OUR SUPERPOWER. It’s our heritage and it’s also our future. Because we don’t just make toys. We create innovative products and experiences that inspire fans, entertain audiences and develop children through play. Mattel is at its best when every member of our team feels respected, included, and heard—when everyone can show up as themselves and do their best work every day. We value and share an infinite range of ideas and voices that evolve and broaden our perspectives with a reach that extends into all our brands, partners, and suppliers.

The Opportunity:

The Portfolio Management Analyst enables data-driven portfolio decisions by connecting Global Product Brand Teams with regional planning functions and commercial organizations. The role analyzes portfolio and supply chain performance, identifies trends, risks, and opportunities, and translates complex data into clear executive insights and recommended actions.

As a critical member of the Portfolio Management team, the analyst will own the monthly Portfolio Management Review analytics and presentation process, strengthen performance measurement and governance, and support cross‑functional process improvements across the S&OP organization. The analyst will also apply modern analytics and responsible AI tools to improve the speed, quality, and consistency of analysis and decision support.

What Your Impact Will Be:
  • Own the end‑to‑end monthly Portfolio Management Review (PMR) analytics and PowerPoint deck development process, including data collection, validation, synthesis, storyline development, executive‑ready visuals, and distribution of supporting materials.
  • Analyze portfolio performance across brands, regions, product lines, and planning horizons; identify meaningful trends, variances, outliers, risks, and opportunities that require management attention.
  • Translate large and complex data sets into concise business narratives, clear recommendations, and actionable metrics that help leaders understand what changed, why it changed, and what action is required.
  • Develop and maintain standardized KPI views, scorecards, dashboards, and presentation templates to improve consistency, comparability, and efficiency across monthly reviews.
  • Conduct ad‑hoc analysis, scenario modeling, and what‑if assessments to evaluate portfolio choices, timing changes, demand shifts, item productivity, and process impacts.
  • Partner with Global Brand Teams, regional planning, commercial teams, Finance, Product Development, and Sourcing to understand business challenges, challenge assumptions constructively, and drive alignment on decisions and follow‑up actions.
  • Lead or support strategic initiatives that improve Portfolio Management and S&OP processes, including defining requirements, documenting workflows, measuring outcomes, and managing implementation milestones.
  • Partner with Supply Chain Analytics to validate data, perform user acceptance testing, improve dashboard usability, and increase adoption and understanding of reporting tools.
  • Use approved AI and automation tools responsibly to accelerate research, data preparation, quality checks, meeting summaries, and presentation development while applying sound judgment, protecting confidential information, and validating outputs before use.
  • Maintain action logs and decision records from PMR sessions, monitor follow‑through, and escalated unresolved risks or dependencies when appropriate.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Analytics, Finance, Operations, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in supply chain, portfolio management, product development, business analytics, or a related function; consumer products experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills, including the ability to frame ambiguous business questions, test assumptions, distinguish signal from noise, identify root causes, and form evidence‑based recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop recurring management presentations that combine accurate analysis, effective data visualization, and a compelling executive storyline.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, data cleansing, scenario modeling, and management of large data sets; experience with Power Query or similar automation capabilities is preferred.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, with strong capability in slide architecture, chart selection, visual hierarchy, and communicating complex information clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of Business Intelligence and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or comparable platforms; ability to validate dashboard outputs and interpret underlying data.
  • Practical proficiency with generative AI and productivity tools for analysis, research, summarization, and content development, including effective prompting, output validation, data privacy awareness, and responsible‑use practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for technical, operational, and executive audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate cross‑functionally, build trust, influence without direct authority, and constructively challenge stakeholders to drive decisions and accountability.
  • Excellent attention to detail, data‑quality discipline, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deliverables within a monthly recurring cadence.
  • Demonstrated growth mindset, intellectual curiosity, learning agility, and willingness to improve processes through new methods and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SQL, Python, Alteryx, Power Query, or other data‑transformation and automation tools.
  • Familiarity with S&OP, integrated business planning, product lifecycle management, portfolio optimization, or consumer‑products planning processes.
