Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Portfolio Lead to ensure the safety and security of our nation by applying the latest technology and delivering actionable intelligence to the Intelligence Community from Chantilly, VA.

The role leads a team of engineers in an Agile environment, accountable for requirements, system analysis, security compliance, and technical documentation across modern and legacy systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 10+ years of progressive IT and portfolio lead experience
• Experience leading enterprise IT system development/engineering efforts

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate a portfolio of software development projects in an Agile environment.
• Collaborate with business users to triage requirements and perform current state system analysis.
• Develop written functional and technical specifications for modern and legacy systems.
• Provide weekly status reports on security assessments, software release, and integration initiatives.
• Guide a team of engineers (approx. 15–20) and act as POC for portfolio issues.

Ensure the safety and security of our nation as a Portfolio Lead at GDIT. You’ll apply the latest technology and provide operational support to deliver actionable intelligence for the Intelligence Community. Here, your work will have meaning and impact as you deliver your best every day.

DESCRIPTION:

• Able to articulate past experience leading a technical evaluation of software development projects that include reviewing requirements to ensure system compatibility for optimal system performance. Candidate should be able to collaborate with business users to triage requirements and perform current state system analysis. Additionally, the Portfolio Lead should have the ability to complete written functional and technical specifications of modern and legacy systems, provide weekly status reports regarding security assessment status, and software release and integration initiatives.
• Candidate should have comprehensive past performance establishing integrated project team structure and assignments, and experience leading, directing and managing enterprise IT system development/engineering efforts.
• Candidate will work developers, systems engineers and security engineers in an Agile Development environment to deliver business features, technical enhancements and artifacts to support security compliance.
• Candidate will possess strong foundational understanding of modern web-based application architectures, AWS Cloud computing services and demonstrate the ability to develop the technical documentation needed to support security compliance.
• Candidate will be required to respond to customer assigned tasks and produce responses within customer mandated deadlines. The candidate should be able to address ad-hoc taskings quickly demonstrating a depth of understanding of the business processes and technical architecture of applications within their portfolio.
• Stay current with emerging technologies to determine impact on application/system integration and execution. Draft project briefings, conceptual whitepapers, program planning, and other foundation documents examining any applicable technologies.
• Overseeing/providing guidance to peer and subordinate staff and develop strategic plans for current and future activities. Experience managing a team of ~15 employees.
• WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
• Required Experience: 10+ years
• Required Technical Skills:
• Foundational understanding of Agile Development processes and ceremonies. Deep understanding of AWS services and application architectures using these services. A solid understanding of how to optimize AWS services to reduce cloud computing costs. Solid understanding of the customer’s A&A processes and the ability to guide systems through the process. The ability to incorporate customer mandated technical directives into existing systems.
• Required Skills and Abilities:
• Providing weekly status reports regarding security assessment status, plus software release and integration initiatives.
• Working with Agile Development teams to ensure business and technical requirements are integrated into product backlogs
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage development teams. Ability to become the POC for portfolio related issues, both technical and non-technical.
• Respond to customer taskings across a wide range of topics and provide responses within mandated time frames.
• Drafting project briefings, conceptual whitepapers, program planning, and other foundational documents.
• Overseeing/providing guidance to peer and subordinate staff and developing strategic plans for current and future activities. Experience managing a team of ~20 employees.
• Researching emerging technologies to determine impact on application/system integration and execution.

• Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph
