Job summary

Berkshire Bank in Yorktown Heights, NY is seeking a Head of Portfolio & Credit Administration to lead the Commercial Lending support team and oversee underwriting across Middle Market, CRE and Business Banking. This role will drive process improvements, develop consistent procedures, and ensure loan compliance while coordinating with Relationship Managers and Team Leaders.

The position requires strategic leadership, a results-driven mindset, and a deep understanding of commercial banking

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
10+ years Commercial Credit and Portfolio Administration management and underwriting/analysis experience.
Ability to drive process improvement through procedures, job aids, and development documents.
Collaborative with strong leadership abilities, to influence and build relationships.

Responsibilities

Manage a team of Commercial Credit Analysis and Commercial Administrative Portfolio Managers.
Oversee coaching, mentoring, and development of the team.
Develop analysts to improve consistency, standards and quality of underwriting.
Proactively manage resources to support portfolio workflow with RMs and team leaders.
Underwrite new credit requests and modifications as needed.
Track/report financial statements, Covenant Tests, Annual Reviews and maintain electronic files.
Oversee internal/external audits and address findings with RM/PM and team leaders.
Establish checks and balances in Underwriting and Portfolio Management with RMs/PMs.
Ensure loan structures and underwriting comply with policies and credit standards.
Ensure compliance with banking laws and policies to reduce risk.
