Overview

Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance & Operations, this position involves both Pre-award (preparing, reviewing, and submitting grant applications) and Post-award (ad-hoc and monthly analysis, grant closeout, etc.) duties. The role requires developing and maintaining knowledge of university finance, budgeting processes, and applicable policies. Special projects may be assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting theory and analysis. Strong skills in MS Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships and communicate effectively with faculty, Principal Investigators, sponsors, and administrative offices.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills. Ability to identify and correct errors.
  • Proactive with a strong sense of urgency. Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. Familiarity with policies and guidelines.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

Principal Responsibilities
  1. Financial Reporting & Analysis: Develop reports to identify trends and variances, analyze budgets, forecast financial scenarios, and prepare complex analytical reports for principal investigators.
  2. Budget Development: Prepare proposals and budgets for grants, coordinate with partner institutions, and ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
  3. Compliance and Risk Management: Interpret and apply sponsor policies to ensure compliance, manage multiple awards, and oversee award activities.
  4. Finance Partnership: Collaborate with faculty and external contacts to manage proposal processes and funded projects.
  5. Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree required; degrees in Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred. 0-2 years of experience in a fast-paced environment.

Salary & Additional Information

Salary range: $43,700 - $82,400. Salary offers depend on qualifications, experience, and market conditions. The description provides a general overview and does not specify all duties.
