Job description

The Aerospace Corporation, a federally funded research and development center, is hiring a Portfolio Architect & Enterprise Systems Engineer for the Portfolio Analysis Department (PAD) within the Enterprise Effects Division (EED). This onsite position is based in Chantilly, Virginia and supports East Coast government customers in portfolio management, digital engineering, and system‑of‑systems engineering.

Work Model

Full‑time on‑site at Aerospace’s Chantilly, VA location. Occasional domestic travel (approximately 5‑10%) may be required.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Provide enterprise engineering and analytical support to intelligence‑community customers in portfolio management, digital engineering, and system‑of‑systems engineering.
  • Engage directly with Aerospace program office personnel and government customers.
  • Support deployment or implementation of existing tools, models, and frameworks.
  • Identify new capabilities and enhancements to better support customer programs and architectures.
  • Initiate studies designed to solve complex problems and deliver innovative technical solutions.
  • Inform management of perceived technical problems and recommend courses of action.
  • Utilize Aerospace resources, teams, and expertise on MBSE methodologies, modeling languages, and tools.
  • Lead studies to provide recommendations to customers.
  • Leverage Aerospace’s technical backplane to provide tailored support for customer‑specific use cases.
  • Provide ongoing technical consultation and advice to management, customers, and contractors.
  • Mentor and oversee early‑career staff as necessary.
What You Need to Be Successful
  • Minimum 4 years of increasingly responsible experience in systems engineering or related disciplines.
  • Experience with systems engineering, model‑based systems engineering (MBSE), and digital engineering.
  • Excellent time‑management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with MBSE modeling languages such as SysML and tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler and SparX Enterprise Architecture.
  • Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as DoDAF or UAF.
  • Active TS security clearance or Q security clearance.
  • Available and willing to travel domestically (approx. 5‑10%).
Minimum Requirements for the Senior Member of the Technical Staff
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, science, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 4 years of increasingly responsible experience in systems engineering or related engineering disciplines.
  • Experience with systems engineering, model‑based systems engineering, and/or digital engineering.
How You Can Stand Out
  • Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, science, or related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams conducting technical evaluations of complex systems; cost, schedule, and risk analysis; portfolio‑level trade studies; and requirements development.
  • Experience with the Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) technical capabilities and organizational construct.
  • Experience with Intelligence Community systems engineering and programmatic processes, methods, tools, and personnel.
  • Experience briefing senior Government leaders (General Officer and/or SES/SIS).
