Job description

Position Summary

The Portfolio Analyst serves as a critical link between Firm management and the Revenue team, working directly with Managing Directors (MDs) at Ogletree Deakins. Each Portfolio Analyst is assigned to support one or more MDs and is responsible for overseeing collection efforts across the MD’s full portfolio, with a strong focus on aged accounts. The role partners closely with Revenue Specialists, A/R teams, and Firm leadership to ensure escalation protocols are followed, recommendations are clearly presented, and MD decisions are properly documented and executed.

Essential Functions
  • Serve as the primary revenue partner to assigned Managing Directors, overseeing collection efforts for the MD’s full portfolio.
  • Monitor aged accounts across assigned portfolios, ensuring compliance with the Firm’s A/R and escalation policies.
  • Ensure escalation protocols are followed by Revenue Specialists and identify accounts requiring MD-level review.
  • Prepare and present recommendations to Managing Directors regarding actions for aged and critically aged accounts.
  • Meet regularly with Managing Directors (at least monthly, cadence determined by the MD) to review portfolio performance.
  • Conduct portfolio review meetings that include discussion of escalated aged accounts, actions taken since prior meetings, and next steps.
  • Recommend suspension of new work for clients with critically aged balances in accordance with Firm policy.
  • Review individual attorney portfolios to ensure compliance with Firm A/R standards.
  • Evaluate write-off requests for significantly aged accounts after all standard collection efforts have been exhausted.
  • Identify situations requiring MD assistance when responsible attorneys are unresponsive on collection matters.
  • Document MD decisions and communicate outcomes and required actions to Revenue Specialists and A/R teams.
  • Oversee implementation of MD decisions from prior meetings and track progress on outstanding accounts.
  • Compile and analyze portfolio-level reporting with an emphasis on aged and at-risk balances.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Specialists to assess collection activity, client creditworthiness, and recommend next-step actions.
  • Run and analyze regular reports on individual attorney portfolio aging and share insights with Managing Directors.
  • Monitor attorney departures and ensure impacted accounts are reassigned promptly to avoid disruption in collection activity.
  • Analyze complex insured accounts to review billing and payments for purposes of reconciliation of outstanding accounts receivable and unallocated cash; advise Managing Directors of identified issues and recommended steps to resolve.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in revenue, accounts receivable, billing, or financial analysis (law firm or professional services environment preferred).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to present financial information and recommendations clearly to senior leadership.
