Job summary

Man Group in Boston is seeking a Portfolio Analyst to join a team that blends quantitative research, portfolio construction, and live investment decision‑making. Qualifications

  • Undergraduate and/or graduate coursework in accounting, finance, statistics, computer science, economics, or mathematics.
  • Coding experience required, Python preferred.
  • Recent Graduates encouraged to apply.
  • Deep interest in investing and the financial markets.
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated track record of self-directed projects or research.
  • Strong sense of integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Work with portfolio managers on day-to-day portfolio management workflows, including validating the implementation of the investment strategies.
  • Analyze the output of our portfolio construction process to ensure the integrity of our investment philosophy and improve the outcomes.
  • Work with team in identifying and championing new alpha and risk management ideas from concept through to implementation.
  • Design tools for evaluating and improving portfolio implementation and performance.
  • Assist in signal enhancement initiatives in partnership with research teams, and develop independent research ideas with a clear path to production.
  • Assist in the analytical narrative for client communications and presentations.
  • Work across teams within Man Group to solve investment, technical, and operational challenges.

Role Overview

The Portfolio Analyst role puts you at the intersection of quantitative research, portfolio construction, and live investment decision-making. You'll own or assist in critical parts of the investment process, from signal validation to portfolio risk management, with direct visibility into how your work affects real capital allocation in multi-billion dollar quant equity hedge fund strategies. You'll work alongside a team of Portfolio Managers and Portfolio Analysts, with the opportunity to shape how strategies are implemented and improved.

Key Skills & Experience

The anticipated based salary range for this position is listed below. Compensation packages would also include benefits and a discretionary bonus. This is the base salary range that the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting based on the location and requirements of the position as well as the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant. The Firm reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.

US Pay Range: $95,000 USD - $125,000 USD
