Overview

The Porter candidate will create a positive experience by providing outstanding customer service to building residents, guests, and prospects. The candidate will ensure that the lobby, entryways, common areas, and hallways are clean and well-organized at all times. Responsibilities will also include maintenance support within the apartment community and helping the company deliver on resident commitments such as exceptional move-in experiences, residential satisfaction, express service, and personal attention. The candidate will also serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team, assisting with fire, non-fire, medical, and other building-related emergencies.

Position Details

The Durst Organization is seeking a Porter at VIA 57 West located at 625 W 57th St, New York, NY. The schedule is as follows:

  • Saturday-Sunday from 7:00am-3:30pm
  • Monday-Wednesday from 3:00pm-11:30pm

Days Off: Thursday and Friday

Salary Range: $22.33 - $29.78 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the Durst Residential Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain building grounds, amenity, and common areas to the highest standards of cleanliness; ensure trash rooms are clean and bins are appropriately emptied.
  • Perform daily property maintenance and cleaning projects as assigned.
  • Keep supplies organized and recommend replenishments to the supervisor.
  • Provide excellent customer service according to TDO standards.
  • Monitor contractors and vendors on-site, maintaining cleanliness and organization.
  • Perform upkeep, turnovers, and make-readies in vacant units.
  • Inspect the facility to ensure safety, sanitation, and security standards are met.
  • Assist as part of the Emergency Response Team during emergencies, including:
    • Locating and controlling small fires
    • Informing residents of emergencies and coordinating evacuations
    • Assisting residents with special needs during emergencies
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification and Local 32BJ Training School courses applicable to residential operations and emergency response.
  • At least three years of porter/handyperson experience; hospitality or residential industries preferred.
  • Certificate of Fitness S-12 (Citywide Sprinkler System) and S-13 (Citywide Standpipe System) preferred.

Must be able to work any day of the week, 52 weeks a year, including overtime as needed. The candidate should be energetic, dependable, and motivated.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must stand, walk, handle objects, reach, balance, stoop, crouch, bend, talk, and hear. Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • The work environment typically has moderate noise levels.
