Job Statement

The Porter/Maintenance Worker is part of the on-site maintenance team, ensuring safe, affordable housing for tenants in buildings managed by POP Management. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, preparing tenant apartments, and assisting with repairs and safety standards. The role involves collaboration with staff and vendors, and routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, repairs, and snow removal.

  • Coordinate with the Superintendent for property maintenance.
  • Perform routine repairs and document via Service Request Orders.
  • Monitor mechanical systems and collaborate with vendors and contractors.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in indoor and outdoor common areas.
  • Follow a cleaning schedule for floors, doors, windows, elevators, and communal spaces.
  • Prepare tenant apartments, including cleaning, painting, and floor work.
  • Remove snow and ice promptly.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred; may be waived with 1 year of experience.
  • Experience with equipment like vacuum cleaners, waxers, buffers, snow blowers, lawn mowers, etc.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Proficiency in English; bilingual skills (Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Russian) preferred.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
