Job summary

Goddard Riverside Community Center in Manhattan seeks a reliable Maintenance/Custodian to uphold cleanliness and safety across buildings and grounds. The role supports daily activities by sweeping, mopping, setting up rooms, and ensuring HVAC systems are maintained, with attention to safety materials and alarms.

We offer a day schedule from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (or 9:00 am to 5:00 pm) with some evenings and possible weekends.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills in a team setting.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness throughout the building.
• Sweep and mop entrances, halls, classrooms, gym and office.
• Set up rooms for daily activities and events.
• Change trash liners and dispose of trash daily.
• Clean bathrooms daily and windows regularly.
• Move furniture as needed.
• Inventory, storage and organization of cleaning supplies.
• Check safety materials – alarms, exit signs, outlets; report repairs as needed.
• Secure facility and lock-up building at end of day.

Intro/Program Description: Goddard Riverside is a well-established Manhattan community-based agency with an annual operating budget of approximately $50 million.
