Job summary

Harvard Maintenance in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a Porter to maintain daily cleanliness, appearance, and upkeep of public and operational spaces. You will respond to building management requests, ensure a clean and welcoming environment for tenants and visitors, and support events as needed.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of Porter experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage with others at all levels.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of lobbies, restrooms, hallways and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust to keep spaces tidy and presentable.
• Empty trash and replace liners; restock restroom supplies.
• Wipe doors, windows, and high-touch surfaces; respond to spills promptly.
• Assist with setting up meeting spaces and special events as needed.
• Report maintenance or safety issues to management.
• Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are maintained and safe.
• Follow all safety and cleaning protocols.

A day in the life
The Porter is responsible for maintaining the daily cleanliness, appearance, and overall upkeep of public and operational spaces within the building and responds to special Building Management requests and work orders. This role is key to ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for tenants, employees, and visitors.

• Maintain cleanliness of lobbies, hallways, elevators, restrooms, and other common areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust as needed to ensure all areas are tidy and presentable
• Empty trash receptacles and replace liners
• Restock restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
• Wipe down doors, windows, and other high-touch surfaces
• Respond promptly to spills, messes, and tenant requests
• Assist with moving furniture, setting up meeting spaces, or supporting special events
• Report any maintenance or safety issues to management
• Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are kept in good condition
• Follow all safety and cleaning protocols
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Porter.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups at all professional levels.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, or kneel as required.
