Job summary

Harvard Maintenance is seeking a Porter to keep building spaces clean and welcoming. You will maintain lobbies and common areas, handle restrooms, and assist with events. The role requires at least 1 year of porter experience and a high school diploma.

This part-time position operates Monday–Friday with shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and requires strong communication and the ability to work outdoors across varying weather conditions. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Porter.
• Strong communication skills and ability to discuss with individuals or groups at all professional levels.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Physically able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, or kneel as required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of lobbies, hallways, elevators, restrooms, and other common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust to keep areas tidy and presentable.
• Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
• Restock restroom supplies (soap, towels, toilet paper).
• Wipe down doors, windows, and other high-touch surfaces.
• Respond to spills, messes, and tenant requests promptly.
• Assist with moving furniture or setting up meeting spaces or events.
• Report maintenance or safety issues to management.
• Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are in good condition.
• Follow all safety and cleaning protocols.

A day in the life

The Porter is responsible for maintaining the daily cleanliness, appearance, and overall upkeep of public and operational spaces within the building and responds to special Building Management requests and work orders. This role is key to ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for tenants, employees, and visitors.

These are PT positions.

Monday-Friday 7a-330p, 3p-11p
