Position Purpose

The Porter/Dishwasher is responsible for delivering food to various areas, including the Cheer Cupboard, Trailer, and Gengras Cafeteria. This role involves brewing and pouring hot beverages, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning equipment, delivering and picking up coffee carts, removing trash, and supplying clean trays, dishes, flatware, and food items.

What You Will Do

• Transport food and supplies to various locations in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain assigned department areas and equipment in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
• Contribute to the efficient operation of the department and the achievement of excellence by following departmental and hospital guidelines.

Environmental and Working Conditions

• Stand, walk, push, and pull most of the day. Ability to move 350# carts and lift up to 75# (heavy supplies and equipment). Follow written and verbal instructions.
• Frequent lifting of objects less than 50 lbs., performing manipulative tasks, arm-hand steadiness, hand-eye coordination, walking and standing for prolonged periods, and hearing normal sounds amid background noise.
• Work in food service areas with exposure to chemicals, burns, strains, cuts, falls, and other hazards. Must meet deadlines and work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. Work in steamy, hot environments with exposure to cleaning chemicals, handling soiled trays and trash, and potentially hazardous waste materials.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year food service experience preferred.
• No licensure required.
• Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions in English.
