Position Purpose:
The Porter/Dishwasher is responsible for the delivery of food to various areas, Cheercupboard, Trailer and Gengras Cafeteria. Brews and pours hot beverages. Sweeps and mops floors. Cleans equipment. Delivers and picks up coffee carts as assigned. Removes trash from the department. Supplies clean trays, dishes, flatware and food items.
What you will do:
Transports food and supplies to various locations in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintains assigned department areas and equipment in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
Contributes to the efficient operation of the department and the achievement of excellence by following departmental and hospital guidelines.
Environmental and Working Conditions:
Stands, walks, pushes and pulls most of the day. Requires movement of 350# carts and lifting 75#. (Heavy supplies and equipment) Must follow written and verbal instructions.
Position requires ability to frequently lift light objects o moderate weight less than 50 lbs.; perform moderately difficult manipulative, arm-hand steadiness and hand-eye coordination skills; walk and stand for prolonged periods; see objects closely and far away and hear normal sounds with some background noises.
Works in food service areas with exposure to chemical hazards, burns, strains, cuts, falls, etc. Required to meet time deadlines. Required to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays. Works in foodservice area particularly in the area of warewashing. Works in a steamy and hot environment. Exposed to cleaning chemicals. Handles soiled trays and trash. Employee may frequently be exposed to hazardous waste materials (including chemicals); sudden fluctuating temperatures; grease and oil; unpleasant noises and high humidity or wetness.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum 1 year food service experience preferred.
Licensure: None
Skills: Able to read and understand written and verbal instructions in English.
