Qualifications

• Must have floor care experience and on-the-job training.
• Education: High School or GED.
• Experience: Prior floor care experience and ability to operate floor cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains departmental policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Leads cleaning crew or projects; performs duties of housekeeper when not on a project.
• Empties trash and biomedical waste; transfers to central collection; operates the compactor.
• Strips and refinishes floors; extracts carpets; dry and wet mop floors.
• Cleans walls and windows; handles draperies and cubicle curtains; cleans patient equipment.
• Moves furniture and sets up for meetings and activities; assists with special programs as needed.
• Performs isolation and terminal cleaning according to prescribed procedures.
• Communicates effectively with residents/patients, respecting age and needs.
• Attends department and in-service meetings; adheres to universal precautions.
• Maintains a safe environment and reports concerns to clinical staff; supports other departments as needed.
• Performs other duties as required.

Project Housekeeper - Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, quality assessment and improvement programs, and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Works from a schedule that outlines and defines frequency and timing or tasks. Leads works with cleaning crew or assigned projects. Performs duties of housekeeper when not assigned project work.
• Empties trash, biomedical waste and recyclables and transports to central collection site. Transports from site to compactor/recycling dock. Operates compactor. Packages biomedical waste.
• Strips and refinishes floors, extracts carpets. Dry mop and wet mop floors.
• Washes walls and windows. Hangs and removes draperies and cubicle curtains. Washes, repairs beds, wheelchairs, geri chairs and other patient equipment and/or furnishings.
• Moves, removes, and relocates furniture, furnishings, equipment, etc. as directed. Set‑ups for meetings, activities and special programs.
• Performs isolation and terminal cleaning following prescribed procedures.
• Communicates effectively and tactfully with residents/patients recognizing their age, needs, abilities and physical condition.
• Attends department & MHC meetings and inservice programs.
• Understands and follows universal precautions as it pertains to their department.
• Performs all duties in a manner that demonstrates safety, respect, care and concern for our residents/patients/clients and staff. Reports to clinical staff any concerns that might warrant attention on behalf of the resident. Maintain a healthy, clean, safe environment for the population of MHC.
• Operates vacuum cleaners and some mechanical floor/carpet machinery.
• Removes and hangs window draperies and cubicle curtains.
• Washes window draperies and cubicle curtains. Washes walls, vents, etc.
• Assists other MHC Departments as needed.
• Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School or GED
• Experience: Must have floor Care experience, and On-The-job Training
