Levain Bakery in Beverly Hills is seeking a Porter to help keep the store clean and safe while supporting daily bakery operations. The role emphasizes meticulous cleanliness, reliable shift coverage, and teamwork with colleagues to maintain high health standards.

The ideal candidate brings a background in custodian or porter work in F&B or retail, can lift up to 50 pounds, and is available mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Competitive hourly pay and benefits are included.

Responsabilités

• Lead with curiosity and compassion by showing care for coworkers and build meaningful connections
• Collaborate with team to ensure cleanliness in the store

• Maintain cleanliness in all areas including customer areas, restrooms, and workspaces
• Sweep floors, mop, dust areas; report maintenance issues
• Wash, sanitize, restock dishes and tools; ensure surfaces are clean and sanitized
• Assist with bakery display setup/breakdown and equipment maintenance
• empty trash in bathrooms, workstations, and customer areas
• Restock and organize inventory; assist with deliveries and proper storage
• Support daily operations including light food prep and packaging

Competitive triathletes and passionate bakers, Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald left their careers to open a small bread shop in New York City in 1995 — Levain Bakery.

One day, they baked a BIG chocolate chip walnut cookie as energy for triathlon training. At Levain, a batch of these 6-ounce cookies flew off the shelves, and an icon was born. The cozy shop on West 74th Street became a neighborhood favorite and a destination for epicurious visitors from around the world, hungry for “the cookie.”

From the start, Pam, Connie, and the team baked everything fresh on-site each day, donating the day’s leftovers to charity — and we still do, nearly 30 years later. Today, Levain has bakeries across the country (with more to come!), plus ecommerce gift boxes to treat cookie lovers in every state.

THE ROLE: PORTER

Porters ensure Levain Bakeries are clean and food preparation areas are sanitized and up to the highest health code standards. Porters support the overall operations by maintaining a clean and safe environment for both customers and staff. The ideal Porter candidate will take pride in behind-the-scenes work and will be motivated to support team success through maintaining a clean and safe workplace.

Job Responsibilities:

Team Collaboration:

• Facilitate open, clear, and timely communication with your team members and management

Store Maintenance

• Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the store, including customer areas, restrooms, and workspaces, throughout the shift
• Sweep floors and sidewalk, mop, and dust areas where needed
• Communicate any maintenance issues to leaders and management
• Wash, sanitize, restock dishes, trays, baking tools, and other supplies
• Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for customers and staff: Ensure all surfaces, floors, and equipment are clean and sanitized
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of bakery displays and equipment
• Clean, sanitize, and maintain anti-fatigue floor mats
• Empty trash in bathrooms, workstations, and customer-facing areas throughout the day

Inventory Management

• Assist in restocking and organizing inventory and adhere to guidelines given by Shift Leader or management
• Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries, ensuring proper storage of dry and refrigerated goods
• Support the team in daily operations, including light food preparation and packaging as needed

Requirements

• Previous custodian or porter experience in F&B or retail is preferred
• Open availability: ability to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to lift/push up to 50 pounds, including overhead
• Stand/walk for an 8-hour shift (excluding a ½ hour break); some locations require walking up and down stairs

Compensation & Benefits

• $21-22.50/hour
