Job summary

BronxWorks seeks a full-time maintenance technician for Willow Family Residence in Bronx, NY. The role involves light electrical repairs, building-system familiarity, and assisting the technician and supervisor with repairs and renovations. Strong communication skills and a valid NY driver’s license are preferred.

This on-site position requires physical endurance and reliable teamwork across BronxWorks sites. Salary range from $40,000 to $45,327.83 annually reflects full-time commitment.

Qualifications

• A minimum of two years building maintenance experience.
• Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferred
• Valid driver's license from the state in which the bearer resides preferred, with less than three (3) points acquired in the last three (3) years
• Strong maintenance skills.
• Ability to pass a physical skills test
• Strong communication and organization skills with the ability to work with multiple agency personnel.

Responsibilities

• Assist the technician and superintendent in any repair, as necessary.
• Provide light electrical repairs on appliances, fixtures, switches, outlets and circuits.
• Maintain familiarity with all building systems including location and turning on and off multiple systems.
• Participate in unit renovations and turnover
• Perform facility painting as warranted.
• Perform groundwork; including trash removal from the facility.
• Ensure quality standards by following procedures, including work assessment, preparation, and clean up.
• Demonstrate ability to follow OSHA safety guidelines, including use of appropriate PPE and chemicals.
• Maintain required inventory on each floor, including gloves, bags, mops, brooms and PPE
• Complete inventory forms for needed items.
• Maintain compliance with DOHMH and Osha guidelines for cleanliness throughout the facility.
• During unit turnovers, pack, clean, patch/repair, paint and conduct floor care as needed, to ensure units are ready for new clients.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, empty trash, clean windows, etc. regularly and as necessary throughout the facility including offices, Recreation and Childcare areas
• Clean all bathrooms, including single bathrooms twice a day.
• Clean staff kitchen daily, and refrigerator and stove weekly
• Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.
• Attend monthly staff meetings.
• Participate in skills training, and trainings related to all Bronxworks staff, including mandated reporter, and Osha standards training.
• Collaborate with team members and leadership to restore units for occupancy.
• Collaborate with team members and leadership to facilitate repairs and prepare for inspections.
• Maintain floors - Sweeping daily, moping all areas and buffing and waxing all areas of the building as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of the laundry room; vent cleaning.
• Setup/breakdown for small and large events that occur throughout the building.
• Sweep outside area of the building to keep sidewalk clean of garbage and debris.

• Ability to bend and retrieve objects.
• Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
• Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather.
