Job summary

Classic-Automotiv in Waukegan, IL is seeking The Porter to maintain inventory appearance and readiness. You will wash, detail, fuel, and display vehicles for demonstrations and deliveries, contributing to a strong first impression.

The role requires reliability, keen attention to detail, and ability to work outdoors in varying weather. You will support sales and service teams and participate in general lot upkeep and safety.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles with both automatic and manual transmissions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Dependable, punctual, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, clean, and detail new and used vehicles on a regular basis.
  • Maintain clean vehicle interiors and exteriors free of dirt, dust, debris, and water spots.
  • Ensure showroom, front-line, and inventory vehicles meet dealership appearance standards.
  • Remove stickers, trash, and other materials from vehicles as needed.
  • Arrange inventory in an organized and visually appealing manner.
  • Park vehicles with adequate spacing to allow customers to inspect inventory.
  • Move vehicles as directed to support sales, service, deliveries, photography, or special events.
  • Keep parking areas neat, orderly, and free of hazards.
  • Maintain adequate fuel levels in all inventory vehicles.
  • Regularly inspect vehicle batteries and charge or replace batteries as necessary.
  • Conduct routine visual inspections for low tire pressure, warning lights, or obvious damage and report concerns promptly.
  • Verify vehicles are locked, secured, and ready for daily business.
  • Assist with receiving and inspecting incoming vehicle shipments.
  • Support the sales and service departments with vehicle transportation and customer deliveries.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the dealership lot, wash bay, and surrounding grounds.
  • Follow all dealership safety policies and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
